Diet is a word that most people dread because of its connection with discipline and sacrifice. This is a misnomer that leads to ignorance and then failure when trying to lose weight
or as we like to say live leaner. The Greeks used the word diaita, meaning way of life. In Leaner Living we use diet in the sense of lifestyle as well and this is why it is the first crucial component in understanding our philosophy. Instead of thinking in terms of sacrifice, start thinking in terms of slight modification. In most cases, if one has any thought of sacrifice, the nutritional program goes awry and the person gives up. We want to avoid this thought at all costs! In Leaner Living there should be no thought of sacrifice because you will be completely satisfied with your new and modified lifestyle. Is there anyone who doesn’t want their food to taste good? We, personally, greatly enjoy the tastiest of all foods. What we have found out throughout the years is that most people think differently than we do. The majority of the world primarily eats in terms of taste and has little to no consideration for their health. We still eat in terms of taste, but we find ways to incorporate health while keeping the same great flavor. For example, a hamburger that has a whole wheat high fiber bun with 94% lean ground sirloin instead of a white bun with ground chuck. A simple change that not only keeps the mouthwatering taste, but also significantly increases the healthful value! Okay we admit that might be an easy observation but the key to that point, however, is understanding why those small changes increase the healthful value, and that is what this section is all about. We have even created our own special recipes, which will each be released periodically. Each shares the results from many years of experimentation on our part as well as fit the dietary principles we lay out and are backed up by the newest research done on diet and metabolism.

The Approved Foods section was created for those who want a list of foods that would fit on our grocery bill. It is very similar to the section on the Leaner Living Pyramid, but takes any guessing out of the equation. Finally, our diet articles will give extra tips, new research, and fun facts about food, cooking, and dining. We hope you learn something that helps you!
